Have you ever wanted to learn more about the care, skills and other services performed by modern paramedics? Are you considering a career in EMS?
About the Academy
The Virginia Beach EMS Citizens Academy is held at the beginning of each year in January. This free program is intended for adults and hosts residents who are at least 18 years old.
The program consists of six unique sessions, running one night a week for six consecutive weeks.
The deadline for current applications is Nov. 30, 2024.
Participants Will Learn About

The different components of the Virginia Beach EMS System.

CPR and AED use (automatic external defibrillator).

Bleeding control.

Modern paramedic skills and training methods.

How data and science are incorporated into advanced levels of EMS medical care.

Hands-on displays and demos of ambulances and specialty response units.

Specialty services such as Tactical Paramedics and the Marine Rescue Team.

Tour of the Virginia Beach 911 Center.
